Dragatomi is excited to host the - For the Love of Vinyl - Custom Show, a collaborative group art toy show, curated by Denise Cortez! This is celebration of doing what you love, the way you want to, and how ever you want to do it, in this case the artists and designers had the opportunity to create their very unique vision, by encouraging them to use the technique, medium and theme of their choosing applying all their creative talent on a blank Symbiote vinyl toy platform.

The show gathers 25 talented artists, designers and customizers form all over the world featuring: Arwassa (Spain) - ARTDENKA (Japan) - Baby Vtec (USA) - Chauskoskis (Mexico) - Dolly Oblong (Netherlands) - Frank Mysterio (Mexico) - Emily Bee (Canada) - Helena Garcia (USA) - Jeremiah Ketner (USA) - JRYU (USA) - Jeff Lamm (USA) - Kat Brunnegraff (USA) - King Quan (USA) - Lunabee (UK) - Lou Lou & Tummie (Netherlands) - Matt Jones (UK) - Jamie Fales (USA) - Olla Boku (Taiwan) - Pocket Wookie (USA) - Podgy Panda (New Zealand) - Paul Shih (New Zealand) - Pandacrew (France) - Steve Talkowski (USA) - SpankyStokes (USA) - Warm ‘n Fuzzy (Mexico).

Launching, and running from March 12th - April 2nd, with the opening night being Saturday, March 12 2011 from 7pm-11pm! This is going to be such a good show, and having the eclectic group of artists involved will not disappoint. I know this is a ways off still… but we are gearing up now, so mark those calendars! Hiya! hope you’re weather is nice and cool because I’ve been burning up these past few days, the AC is doing it’s best but it’s not quite enough lol hello Summer I guess ^_^

Well I’ve been working like a busy bee getting ready for SDCC can’t wait to meet and hang out with all my buddies :) and because I have no Warm’nFuzzy business cards at the moment cuz I’m retaking this personal project and re-making the brand again, I decided to silkscreen 2 designs of sticks to give out to friends and cool peeps at SDCC.

I wanted to get the new warm-n-fuzzy site up but I’ve been too busy with the - For the Love of Vinyl- Project and finishing my Mimobot design the deadline is today 0o0 so I better get back to it!

Hopefully after that I will have time to work on the website and make some 1” buttons - pins to give along with the sticks so wish me luck!

Takochu pandemic!

Hello ^_^ It’s been a little more than a month that I haven’t appeared over here so I wanted to drop by and say hello.

I suddenly fell like me pal Danbo each Takochu represents a task that I need to accomplish, they are quite fun and it may look as if they’re hugging me but it can be quite overwhelming to have many of those things over me at the same time.

It’s Summer, vacation time for many of you and for me it’s the busiest time of the year but I’m quite happy :) because soon I will have more time for my personal projects like the vinyl show I’m curating and the re-make of Warm ‘n Fuzzy.

These are exiting times indeed, so off to work I go and catch ya again soon ^_^

A few weeks ago, I received another bunch of snailmail that I haven’t shared with you yet, between bills, boxes, magazines, netflix movies and other random stuff I found this envelope with the cutest doodle on it, it surely brought a smile to my face and I was even more happy when I knew it was from my friend Jessie aka OLLA BOKU she sent me a bunch of goodies that I will show you later.

Don’t you just love doodles? there’s something about them that makes a regular piece of mail extra special, whether they are made with a pen or a sharpie they give texture and character to a plain brown box or envelope, So remember this the next time you sent out a letter :) even if it was bad news at least it would look awesome.

I’m off to work now, I’m doing tons of stuff at the same time and it’s hard to keep up, gonna write some pending emails for the FLOV project so I can start screen printing promos like stickers and t-shirts withing the next two weeks, it’s gonna be fun!

Hiya! Hope you’re having a great Friday, I’ve been good ( sick at the moment) but otherwise pretty good today I’m going to talk about a wonderful art toy that I received in the mail a few weeks ago.

I’m talking about LIL’ DEATH a cute but sinister character from the Hollow Threat Metal Universe all created by Paul Shih an awesome friend and talented designer from New Zealand. LIL’ DEATH is a great exclusive piece to own because it’s limited to 20 figures Worldwide!

I admire Paul’s work because he has exactly the kind of aesthetics that makes me buy toys like crazy, clear lines and chubby round simple design, very Kawaii - Japanese + the fact that I Love all sorts of METAL music, these are just some of the many reasons why his designs speak to me. LIL’ DEATH is handmade out of resin by Paul himself as you can see in his blog here and stands 4.5 inches tall, is surprisingly light weight for a resin piece and it smells wonderful like vanilla with marshmallow and to be honest if you don’t know much about resin toy figures you could confuse LIL’ DEATH for a vinyl piece oh yeah! is that good ^_^

Haven’t posted in weeks because you know same all busy busy + the fact that I’ve been fighting the wave again, my batteries are running low these days and I’ve been feeling really bad because I’ve started to feel the pressure and I still have a lot to accomplish by the end of June.

But this time I’m determined to keep going even if sometimes I might come across a bit bipolar :(:

Just wanted to drop off and post a little update ^_^ I’m happy to tell you that my honey and my DSLR arrived at home safely so I finally got around to play with my new lenses and shot all the stuff that I haven’t shown you yet.

I also screen printed a small test batch of vinyl stickers yesterday and I’m gonna try other inks and some clear vinyl sheets tomorrow so let’s see how it goes :) I also had some ideas to make killer 1” buttons and that’s why I was painting little hearts on a piece of primed linen, lets hope it works properly and as you can see from the picture above I am almost done with my custom mini munny, so there’s a tiny peek for you also.

Mmmm. what else, oh yeah! I got sweet snail mail again this time from Osaka - Japan a box full of stickers - promos and of course resin art toys :) I uploaded a few photos at my Flickr will post the full parcel goodies later ^_^

Think that’s all, I’m off to design negatives for tomorrow’s screen printing and then I’m gonna work on my MissC cupcake custom, haven’t gotten around to read your blogs lately because I’ve been all over the place but will try and visit soon :) Thanks for the emails and the invites, gonna reply them ASAP.

This one goes to my honey who is still stuck in Frankfurt Germany because of the stupid Iceland Volcano :( it seems that his flight for tomorrow was been canceled by the second time and we will have to wait until the EU decides it’s same to fly again, we are hoping he can fly back on Monday.

In the meantime I’ve been working - cooking - painting and printing non stop because the anxiety has a funny way with me, the good thing about it is that I’m finally getting some work done in here, projects that have been laying around for ages are getting attention and I’m picking up old mediums and experimenting with new materials.

I’ve been meaning to take good photos of the things I’m working on but the Mr. took my DSLR with him x_X so It’s killing me right now, need my camera and need him lol oh well in other news..

I got a parcel from my friend LiLi Singapore the other day! and it’s a wonderful surprise because it involves TO-FU Oyako ^_^ Yay! for overseas friends that feed my Asian Toy Fix, will try and take photos with my crappy camera to show ya.

So how are things at your end? hope everything is well :)

Just wanted to share this print by artist and illustrator Andrew Bannecker with you, love the detailed characters, specially the eating dagger lady with the tattoos, I also admire his use of soothing colors and texture in all of his art.

Drawing + Organizing

That’s how I’ve been spending my hours lately, just like my Uglydoll friend Jeero over here. After my first fail in the screen printing studio yesterday I was felling a little out of it, because I really hate to waste time and materials but I’m feeling confident for tomorrow’s printing let’s hope that my 3 ink mushie experiment goes well this time.

BTW Have you seen my friend Saki blog? If you like Designer Toys then you must! She takes the coolest photos of toys in action + she’s also the host and brilliant mind behind the IHCS site.

Another sweet mail surprise came in the mail today, It made me so happy that I just had to share it. A letter of my friend Joyce from Taiwan, the cute treeson drawing made my day ^_^ she even drew the Warm ‘n Fuzzy character I use as my Flickr icon.

It’s funny how these little details might seem insignificant, but it’s quite true that these are the little things in life that bring us happiness.

Hello! It’s been forever since my last post -_- sorry about that, I’ve been working and learning non stop and some things have taken me more time and attention than initially planned, so I’m gonna take advantage of this week to get back on track, so many good things are coming that I am really exited.

So despite all the hectic errands, unexpected bumps and activities that I am yet to finish, I gave myself a well deserved .- SnailMail Break -. I sat down and wrote to my neglected friends a surprise note to see how they’re doing and let me tell you it’s instant gratification ^_^ I recommend it if you’re feeling down or just need to give yourself time to relax.

And if you’re wondering about the picture above well it was a little bag I decorated to ship ephemera, I used a small glassine bag stamped the tree-bird image on it and finally closed it with a little bit of Japanese washi tape after drawing the hearts on it, fast, pretty and simple. I’m going back to work now If I owe you an email I’ll reply to you as soon as I can ^_^ enjoy your week and I’ll try to be here the rest of the week, See ya!

Hello :) like promised here is a nice snail mail post with eye candy to brighten you day. I will start by admitting that - Snail Mail - is one of my many obsessions anything from stamps, brown kraft paper, envelopes, letters, postmarks just drive me crazy and gets me all exited, must be because we don’t make much use of it here in México because the service is terrible and you never get to receive your parcels :( witch is very disappointing. That’s why I had to rent a mail box in the USA so I can send and receive snail mail at will ^_^ it has paid off wonderfully along the years, it feels wonderful when you open your mail box and find a wonderful care package like this one. Full of cute little items that makes you smile, this parcel was sent to me from Maartje a wonderful old friend of mine and it came all the way from Amsterdam, she always finds the cutest things over there, stationery items I don’t find in the US. see what I mean? even if you are having a bad day or your life just pain sucks right now, snail mail will make it all better, no matter if you send or receive it will make you feel good and loved, that’s why I’m gonna write a few letters a day so I can surprise my old pen pals with a little something and maybe if I get lucky, make them Smile!

How’s your Saturday? Hope it’s all good, I also hope that you find the time and energy to :: Do What You Want ::

I’ve had a tough week trying to organize all my files, installing new software making backups and importing old documents so I can finally have all the stuff I need to work with at my fingertips and then have the means to :: Do what I want :: witch is the fun part of it all.

Surely don’t want to start neglecting this blog, I want to start posting as I used to, at least 3 times a week with a review or/and a fun tutorial, I miss doing - Paper Toy Fridays - those were always lots of fun to make and photograph, I also have lots of swap photos and goodie reviews waiting to see the light of day but Mr. Time and crazy old Life always get the best of me.

Ohh! and It’s my sweetheart’s B-day today so Yay! we already game him his geeky presents including an air gun 0o0 and some x-box games, I tell ya if you have a geek in your life the air bazooka it’s a MUST and it’s super fun to play with the kitties already hate the thing hehe.

So, I wish you a happy weekend and hope to be here on Monday , have to start the habit of writing more often ^_^ ta ta…
